Formed in Liverpool as The Hi-Hats, a skiffle group, in the late 1950s.
Changed their name to the Ravens (and sometimes Robin and the Ravens).
When Bill Ruffley joined they changed their name again to Faron and the Flamingos.
Later they were known as Faron's Flamingos.
Faron had previously been in The Odd Spots, Johnny Tempest & the Tornadoes, and Faron and the Tempest Tornadoes. He briefly joined Gerry and the Pacemakers in Hamburg for a few weeks.
Managed by Jim Turner.
Played in Hamburg in 1961.
Came 9th in a poll held by Mersey Beat music paper of the most popular beat groups on Merseyside, with the results being announced in the issue published on 4 January 1962.
In 1962, Faron's Flamingos did a tour of American Air Bases in France, with Dave 'Mushy' Cooper joining on bass guitar. Cooper had previously been in The Undertakers. A girl singer was required for the contract and so Pam Connelly was roped in. Pam wasn't really a singer, but did a good job. Dave Cooper left the group in 1963 and Faron took over the bass guitar duties.
Paddy Chambers replaced Billy Jones on rhythm guitar.
The group were then signed to Oriole Records in 1963 and released two singles under the name Faron's Flamingos.
The group disbanded in 1963 and Faron and Paddy joined The Big Three. Paddy Chambers was later in Paddy, Klaus and Gibson, The Escorts, and Sinbad.
Trevor Morais joined Ian Crawford and the Boomerangs. Morais was later in The Peddlers.
Nicky Crouch joined The Mojos.
