Sources for Research

This blog is a collation of information, photographs, scans of print material and years of hard work researching newspapers, websites, books and television and radio programs. It takes much of the time to sift out false memories from fact. In creating this blog I want to bring together information about all the musical artists of the 1960s and some of the 1950s and put them in one place as a useful resource for researchers, collectors, enthusiasts and those who were there.

I believe that information should be free and I make no money from this blog. Sometimes I have used photographs and scans without waiting to ask for permission, mainly because of the sheer scale of the task that I am undertaking on my own does not warrant me wasting most of my time negotiating rights for publication. This may get me into trouble. If I have offended anyone by publishing a photograph then just email me at britishchallenge@gmail.com and I will remove it, but it would be a shame for the people of this world to not see your group on this blog.

In good time I want this blog to be as complete as I can get it and include groups and solo artists from the era, no matter if they were successful or not. It will take time to sift out which group is which. I mean, how many groups are there called 'The Phantoms' for goodness sakes! Occasionally you will see a famous group on the blog with very little information underneath. The reason for this is to create a placeholder until I have time to fill it, but it also serves a purpose when trying to use all the information found in one document, advert or web snippet. So there may only be one gig listed in the whole of the post, but that is there so that I don't forget about it even though I am not ready to fill out more information. Also, as I come across more information the post will be updated as soon as I get round to it.

I hope you understand my dedication to history and allow me to continue this project.

Below, I would like to give credit to the websites that have also made a huge effort to bring us all historical facts of the music scene from this era. They have given me great pleasure over the years. They are listed in no particular order.
