Formed in Lichfield.
In 1963 they were an amateur six-piece group.
Came second in The Lichfield Round Table 'Rhythm Contest' in Lichfield on 15 June 1963. Others to enter the contest were The Sundowners, who won, The Shades of Blue, third, and The Meteors, who finishes fourth.
In 1964 The Apaches took part in the National Beat Group Competition held in London. The judges included Brian Epstein, Ringo Starr, Cilla Black, DJ Alan Freeman, and Billy Hatton of The Fourmost. The final was held at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London. The second half of the contest was broadcast live on television.
