The Eagles

Members

Terry Clark - lead guitar
John Payne - rhythm guitar
Mike Brice - bass guitar
Rod (Rodney) Meecham - drums

Formed in Knowle West, Bristol, England.
The Eagles were a mainly instrumental group.
Terry Clark used a guitar he built himself.
Previously known as The Strollers. Changed their name to The Eagles in 1962 and turned professional.
They were noticed by composer Ron Grainer who wanted to use them for a film project called 'Some People', about a fictional Bristol group.
Some of their instrumentals, and songs where the Eagles back local singer Valerie Mountain, were featured on a soundtrack EP of the film 'Some People' starring Kenneth More and Angela Douglas. The EP reached No. 2 in the EP charts and stayed in the charts for 21 weeks. The movie was filmed in Bristol. The Eagles were presented to the Duke of Edinburgh at the film's premiere.
The Eagles became Ron Grainer's protegees, recording new versions of some of his film score work like the theme of the Maigret television series.
Toured the UK with Del Shannon, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Tillotson, and Dionne Warwick.
Disbanded by the end of 1964 after Rod Meecham suffered ill health and Ron Grainer went blind.
Terry Clarke was later in Pickettywitch and became as a session musician and solo artist, releasing nine solo albums between 1990 and 2006.
Mike Brice and Rod Meecham were later in The Hot Springs, who recorded for the Columbia label.
